This is the kind of itinerary that feels like a greatest-hits album, except it is real life and you are in it. You start in Kenya’s Maasai Mara ecosystem for 4 nights, split into two different private conservancies, first 2 nights in a tented camp, then 2 nights in cottage-style lodging.

Conservancies are simply better for the experience because they limit vehicle numbers and protect the feeling of discovery, which means fewer crowds at sightings, more flexibility, and a more intimate safari rhythm.

Both conservancy stays open with a signature celebration, and a welcome sundowner on your first evening. Your days feature guided wildlife drives across big open country, plus night game drives and a first-light walking safari with  experienced rangersand Maasai guides.

You’ll also enjoy the touches that turn a safari into a full-bodied memory, with bush breakfast setups, optional bush lunch dining in the wilderness, campfire eveningsstargazing, storytelling, and cultural encounters including a Maasai village visit and a hands-on traditional fire-making demonstration shared by the Maasai guides.

From July through October, this itinerary becomes even more electric as the Great Wildebeest Migration moves through the Maasai Mara ecosystem, bringing massive herds, heightened predator activity, and the potential for dramatic river-crossing days depending on rainfall. Because with us you stay in private conservancies, you experience the migration with more space and flexibility, fewer vehicles at sightings, and a more intimate rhythm that protects the quality of every moment.

In Uganda, the adventure starts in Entebbe with a private excursion into Mabamba Swamp to search for the legendary Shoebill, a bird so surreal it looks like it wandered in from a different dinosaur era. The shoebill is famous for its statuesque stillness, its massive shoe-shaped bill, and the way it hunts with slow, calculated precision in the papyrus channels. You’ll quietly trek them by canoe through narrow waterways with a local expert guide who knows exactly where to look, and when the shoebill finally appears, it’s one of those rare wildlife moments where the whole group naturally goes silent, because you can feel how special the moment is.

From there, you fly toward Bwindi Impenetrable Forest via Kihihi Airstrip and stop at a Pangolin Rescue Center.

This stop matters because pangolins are widely recognized as the most trafficked wild mammals in the world, driven by illegal demand for their scales and meat, which makes conservation and rescue efforts urgent and deeply meaningful to witness firsthand.

In Bwindi, you prepare for the defining encounter of the journey, a mountain gorilla trek with Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers, trackers, and the option of a porter, culminating in a full hour with a habituated gorilla family. The adventures are exciting and plenty of memories to capture with your camera and your own eyes.

After the trek, those who still have energy can keep the day going with a visit to nearby arts and crafts shops.

Optional visit to Ride4-A-Woman, where you can take part in community-led activities such as weaving, basketry and handicrafts, cooking with local ingredients, tailoring and fabric-making, cultural dance and storytelling, and guided village experiences. Each activity here is $25 per person

Cultural depth continues the following day with the Batwa Community tour, where Batwa elders share forest knowledge and heritage through fire-making without matches, traditional hunting tools, medicinal plant use, storytelling, song, and dance, with your visit supporting Batwa-led initiatives and livelihoods.

Your final night in Bwindi closes with a relaxed farewell gathering with your traveling group, a simple, meaningful moment to celebrate the journey, the wildlife, and the bonds formed along the way before you transition back to Entebbe the following day.
