Echoes of the Wild: From Rhino Trails to the Roar of the Nile

Day 1 – Arrival in Entebbe, Uganda

Arrive at Entebbe International Airport, where your Back to the Source Tours guide will be waiting to greet you with a warm welcome. Transfer to your lodge near Lake Victoria and unwind after your flight. Depending on your arrival time, take a relaxed walk through the Entebbe Botanical Gardens or enjoy a beach stroll along Victoria Lake. This night is all about settling in before your journey into the wild begins.

Day 2: Entebbe to Ziwa Rhino & Wildlife Ranch – Walk with the Last Giants

After breakfast, begin your journey north to Ziwa Rhino & Wildlife Ranch (approx. 3 hours). Upon arrival, check in to the newly renovated Ziwa Rhino Lodge, where your luxury chalet overlooks the plains—and if you’re lucky, rhinos might already be napping just outside your veranda.

In the afternoon, set out on a thrilling guided rhino trekking experience, where you’ll walk (at a safe distance) beside these magnificent, endangered animals in their natural habitat. Later, enjoy the serene lodge grounds, take a dip in the swimming pool, or sip a cocktail on the elevated sun decks as wildlife passes undisturbed nearby.

Day 3: Ziwa – Shoebill Trek, Night Walk & Sundowners

Wake up early for a guided Shoebill Swamp Canoe Trek, gliding silently through papyrus reeds in search of the prehistoric-looking shoebill stork—a birder’s dream and a wildlife photographer’s prize.

Return to the lodge for lunch, then spend the afternoon relaxing by the pool or exploring the game room and/or the posh cigar lounge. In the evening, you have the optional activity of  a guided nature walk under the stars, with chances to spot nocturnal wildlife like pangolins, bush babies, and porcupines. End the night around a bonfire or enjoy dinner in the lodge’s two-level restaurant, known for its wood-fired pizzas and panoramic views.

Day 4: Ziwa to Murchison Falls – Into the Wild

After breakfast, continue north to Murchison Falls National Park (approx. 2.5 hours). Along the way, you may spot giraffes or monkeys crossing the road as the terrain opens up into classic savannah.

Enter the park and visit the Top of the Falls, where the Nile River thunders through a 7-meter gorge before plunging 43 meters below—one of the most dramatic natural sights in all of Africa. Capture the mist, the roar, and the rainbow-laced views before heading to your lodge overlooking the river.

Day 5: Game Drive & Nile River Cruise – The Safari Dream

Rise before sunrise for a game drive on the northern banks of the park. You’ll encounter elephants, lions, giraffes, buffaloes, hyenas, hartebeests, and perhaps even a leopard resting in the morning light.

Return for breakfast, rest at the lodge, and then head out in the afternoon for the iconic Nile River Boat Cruise. Watch herds of elephants drink, hippos wade, and Nile crocodiles sunbathe as you glide toward the base of the Falls. The sunset over the river completes this perfect safari day.

Enjoy a bush snack stop along the riverbank or a cultural dance performance back at the lodge.

Day 6: Leisure & Return to Entebbe

After a leisurely breakfast, begin the scenic journey back to Entebbe (approx. 6 hours), stopping for a roadside picnic lunch or at local craft markets along the way. Arrive back in the city by early evening and enjoy a final dinner or rest on your last night.
