List of Activities

1. Traditional Welcome & Orientation (Approximately 1 hour)

Your visit begins with a warm cultural welcome—complete with Kiganda traditional dances like Bakisimba and Nankasa, performed in full regalia. Guests are introduced to the village setting, staff, and the historical significance of the space. A short orientation outlines the values, customs, and community work at the heart of Ewaffe.

2. Farm Experience & Herbal Walk (Approximately 1 hour)

Join a guided walk through the village’s indigenous farm and herbal gardens, where you’ll learn about local plants used for cooking, health, and traditional medicine. Elders and young guides share stories about how different herbs are gathered, preserved, and prepared, linking nature to the Buganda way of life.

3. Walk to the Community Well (Approximately 20 minutes)

Experience a meaningful slice of village life by joining a short walk to the nearby well. Along the way, you’ll hear about the cultural significance of water collection, community cooperation, and the role of water in traditional rituals and ceremonies.


4. Indigenous Fruit Tasting Session (Approximately 20 minutes)

Sample a variety of organic, seasonal fruits grown within and around the village. You’ll discover flavors unique to the region while learning about the symbolic meanings of certain fruits in ceremonies like weddings or clan gatherings.

5. Traditional Role-Play & Craft Activities (Approximately 1 hour)

Step into the daily life of a Buganda household through interactive role-play and practical experiences. Learn to prepare local dishes such as matooke and luwombo, or try your hand at weaving baskets, mats, or other household items using natural fibers. These crafts are central to home life and cultural identity.


6. Bark Cloth Demonstration & Traditional Drink Making (Approximately 30–45 minutes)

Witness the traditional process of making bark cloth, a sacred textile made from tree bark and used in royal and spiritual ceremonies. Simultaneously, enjoy a demonstration of how banana juice and local brews are naturally fermented and flavored using indigenous methods.

7. Traditional Luwombo Lunch (Approximately 1 hour)

Enjoy an authentic, home-cooked luwombo meal—meat or groundnut stew steamed in banana leaves and served with staples like matooke and sweet potatoes. The meal is served communally, reflecting the values of unity and shared hospitality in Buganda culture.


8. Cultural Sex Education & Traditional Fishing (Approximately 1–2 hours)

In separate garden settings, guests can sit with Sengas (aunties) and Kojjas (uncles) for traditional sex education and cultural guidance sessions, a longstanding Buganda practice around relationships, values, and preparing for family life. Alternatively or afterward, try your hand at indigenous fishing techniques using handmade rods in local water bodies.

9. Traditional Games & Community Projects (Approximately 1 hour)

Conclude the experience with fun and engaging traditional games such as skipping, tug of war, board games like Ludo and chess, or group football matches with village youth.

Guests are also invited to participate in community-driven projects like tree planting, offering a small but meaningful contribution to Ewaffe’s environmental mission.
