Mihingo Lodge is a luxurious, family owned lodge in a magical setting adjacent to Lake Mburo National Park. Perched high on a rocky kopje, whose pre-Cambrian granite boulders were formed over 500 million years ago, it has spectacular views over a vast savannah landscape. Designed to blend in with its fragile surroundings, this environmentally friendly lodge offers comfort, relaxation and the experience of being at one with nature.
An infinity pool overlooks the valley below where buffalo, eland, impala, warthogs, bush buck and zebra can be seen at the waterhole. On the rocks you may have the rare chance of seeing the resident family of Klipspringers. We cannot guarantee that you will see a leopard, but on a night game drive you do have a good chance. As Rungwe Kingdon (the son of the well-known wildlife author, Jonathan Kingdon, and one of Mihingo’s guests) once told us “I have seen more leopards in Lake Mburo National Park than any other park in East Africa”.
To further enhance your experience of wild Africa, Mihingo is the only lodge in Uganda to offer daytime and overnight horse safaris into the national park.
Our stay here was unique and one of the most memorable times in our 3 week safari through Uganda. Where do we start?! The cottages are comfy and colorfully designed with local fabrics and unique items throughout. The bathroom with its open views onto utter nature views was the added bonus.
The views, the views, the views are incredible from the cottage balcony, the infinity pool, the restaurant and lounge. Pretty much where ever you look there is nature and usually a friendly staff member ready at your service.
If you ever wanted to just add an extra night of relaxation, Mihingo Lodge is worthy of a longer stay just to enjoy the grounds, the sunrise and sunset, the pool and watch wildlife from a distance into the National Park. Best choice for accommodation!!!
PS, if you find yourself there, be sure to tell the staff “hello” from the Back to the Source Tours team!!! Everyone we refer has nothing but great reviews on their experience! Keep up the great work!
Mihingo Lodge has 12 luxury, tented rooms designed to provide guests with privacy and tranquillity. Each room has its own unique charm and character, whether it is nestled in forest, overlooking the lake, perched on a rocky outcrop or down by the water hole. Although no two rooms are the same, Suni and Ralph have ensured they all share stunning views and provide guests with a light and airy sanctuary and a feeling of being alone in the bush.
Each spacious canvas tent is equipped with en-suite bathrooms, hot and cold running water, showers, and flush loos. The rooms have been sensitively designed to complement the local environment with great attention to detail. The doorways are framed by stunning pieces of dead olive wood found on the land.
